Prices and Terms

We are based at Islay Airport and only there when we have a firm booking. We accept that flights are delayed and we will endeavour to meet these flights, but please be aware we have other commitments at ferries and as such cannot guarantee to be at our hire desk in such circumstances. If you are delayed please keep in contact with us by text or email.

All drivers must be aged between 25 and 75 yrs hire and hold a full EU licence for a minimum of 12 months. Non EU drivers must have International Licence. American, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand Licences are accepted.

We only accept payment by credit card, and debit cards with the exception of American Express.

The hirer is responsible for the first £1000 cost of any accidental damage. For non EU driving licence holders this excess is £2000.

The car is supplied full of fuel, please bring it back to us full. There is additional charge of £20 plus the cost of the fuel if we have to refuel the car.

Our cars are not to be taken to the mainland without the permission of Islay Car Hire. It is permissible to take the car to Jura.

Our cars are designed and insured to be driven on public roads therefore we respect that the cars are only driven on such surfaces.

No dogs allowed inside the vehicles. No bikes are allowed inside or attached to the vehicle.

Our vehicles are strictly non smoking and we reserve the right to charge an additional valeting charge of £100 to any hirers who have smoked inside our vehicles.

No overnight camping inside the vehicles.

We do not have an office in Port Ellen or Port Askaig, by prior arrangement we can meet you there with a vehicle provided the hire is for two days or more.

The hirer is responsible for the repair or replacement of damaged tyres.

20% of the hire is non refundable in the event of cancellation, 80% is refundable if you cancel with 7 days of arrival.

We offer no refunds, should you cancel within seven days of the collection date, on your booking. We are not responsible for late arrivals or missed connections, and recommend you have travel insurance to cover any losses caused by such events.
